The rich soundscape of wide harmonics during a gong bath induces relaxation and stress relief that does not require patience, discipline, or the learning curve and time it takes to benefit from a meditation practice. By merely lying down and listening to the harmonic frequency of a gong sound bath, a deep relaxation response is experienced. The body’s physiological response in relaxation includes lowered blood pressure and activation of the parasympathetic nervous system to relieve tension, stress and anxiety. Chi-square test studies have shown that a recorded gong bath seems to create deeper introspection and a deeper altered state of consciousness than a live gong bath, which in contrast seems to be more emotionally stirring. A gong bath is a practice in receiving nourishment and healing for your body/mind. Just listen.



Find a comfortable space and posture for your body, such as lying down on your back with arms resting loosely at your sides, palms face up, feet are apart, with eyes closed. You may find that lying on one side with knees bent, or sitting on the floor or a chair, feels more comfortable. We encourage you to refrain from moving your body throughout, although we recognize that being responsive to your body’s needs is paramount. Once you have listened to the gong a few times, you might try listening while walking, doing yoga, meditation, cooking, chilling, or whenever and however you want. It’s important to hydrate before the gong bath. Because of the high frequency nature of the gongs’ sound, ideally, listen to the gong recording on high quality speakers or through noise canceling headphones. However, earbuds or device speakers work as well.



Gongs are the number one harmonic-producing instrument. Resonate harmonics in the room, or in your headphones, blend with each other, and the more frequencies you have, the more your brain is activated for a deeper altered state of consciousness. The gong is said to be the mother and father of sound, an echo of the original word that made the world. Unlike music, the sounds of the gong have no spaces between the “notes” and therefore our thoughts dissipate, leading to a positive, relaxing experience, because it allows you to detach from the cognitive part of the brain. The gong experience is an immersion into a spiraling cocoon of total sound to balance the nervous system, release energy blocks, download wisdom and bring the mind to stillness. Throughout time, the gong has been used as a potent symbol for the cosmos. Gong baths have been practiced for thousands of years because in this deep relaxed state we are free to dwell in, and then resolve from, a state of pure fearlessness, balance, and transcendence. The gong itself is a circle representing wholeness, the universe and utmost perfection encompassing inner and outer sound.
